Chinese AI startup touts robot to cut restaurant costs
Botinkit, a Shenzhen-based AI start-up, has introduced a robotic kitchen system.
Their product, called Omni, uses AI and automation to aid commercial cooking.
Botinkit was founded in 2021 by Shirley Chen Rui, targeting restaurants with its robot chefs to tackle challenges like staffing shortages and inconsistent food quality.
Omni can handle stir-frying, stewing, seasoning, and cleaning with limited human assistance.
It allows non-chefs to operate it by following on-screen instructions, potentially enabling one person to manage several robots.
The AI technology adjusts cooking temperatures and seasoning accuracy.
According to Botinkit, this robotic cooking technology may help restaurants lower labor costs by 30%. It may also decrease food and seasoning waste by 10%.
