Ever wondered what Family Guy would look like as a classic, wholesome 1980s sitcom?

Thanks to artificial intelligence, we know the answer and it’s actually rather simple: uncanny, unnerving and with lots of fingers.

For fans of the iconic animated show, which has been a staple since its launch in 1999, this is a look at the Griffin family in a way you’ll never really be able to un-see.

YouTuber Lyrical Realms posted a video of the fictional show’s fake opening titles, having used AI to create various clips made by an AI image generation model, and it’s bizarrely on point.

From the moment we see Peter Griffin bursting out of his white shirt, it’s clear we’re in for a wild ride, with everyone from Lois and Meg to Quagmire and Cleveland getting represented.

In maybe the most jarring part of the whole ordeal, Stewie and Brian make an appearance as a rather wholesome looking toddler and golden Labrador respectively.

Even Peter’s arch nemesis the chicken is here, albeit in a much more sinister guise looming behind him on a subway station, conjuring up ideas of a featherless foe closer to Jabba the Hut than the poultry pal in the show.

It’s fair to say fans have been split on this with plenty of people pointing out how unsettling the entire thing is.

‘It feels like a bizarre window into an alternate reality,’ wrote one person, while another fan pointed out: ‘It’s really uncanny and kinda creepy that AI is making these… they look freakishly realistic.’

People were scared by ‘how well these realistic counterparts make sense’, as others noted AI didn’t quite get everything right.

‘It will never cease to amaze how AI can generate everything but normal looking hands,’ YouTube user @c.j327 quipped.

Others praised the likenesses (especially Quagmire), and plenty of fans could perfectly imagine the setup for a similar skit in the actual show.
